Major International Public Health Encyclopedia
Features Chapter by Florida Researchers

Elsevier, arguably the world’s most preeminent scientific publisher, included a chapter by Florida researchers in its new six-volume International Encyclopedia of Public Health

Frances Vaughn Wilder, Ph.D. and Paul E. Leaverton, Ph.D., former chairman of the University of South Florida’s Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, were invited to write the  “On Biostatistics” chapter. Dr. Wilder completed her doctorate at the University of South Florida and is affiliate assistant professor at the university’s Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Elsevier calls the text “An authoritative and comprehensive guide to the major issues, challenges, methods, and approaches of global public health. “ The encyclopedia is for student and library use. Go to http://www.elsevierdirect.com/product.jsp?isbn=9780122272257 for product information.

Since 1988, the Arthritis Research Institute of America (ARIA) has been studying thousands of participants to learn more about osteoarthritis.  The not-for-profit research organization is based in Clearwater, FL, but its findings have been published worldwide and its X ray database is acknowledged as one of the most complete sources of information about the progression of osteoarthritis.

Dr. Wilder is a member of the Orthopedic Research Society, the British Society of Rheumatology,  the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals and the Osteoarthritis Research Society International.

ARIA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose research has been published in prestigious medical journals such as Osteoarthritis and Cartilage, Rheumatology and The American Journal of Physical Therapy. For information, to volunteer or to make a tax-deductible donation, call (727) 461-4054.
