Dr. Barrett is Director of the Florida
Knee and Orthopedic Center. He is a retired
orthopedic surgeon with over 30 years
of experience treating osteoarthritis.

Frances
V. Wilder, Executive Director
Frances Vaughn Wilder earned her doctorate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the College of Public Health,
University of South Florida. Her major area of interest is epidemiologic study design and analyses. Dr. Wilder's
research has been focused on the epidemiology of osteoarthritis. She is an active member of the Association of
Rheumatology Health Professionals (ARHP), Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI), the Orthopedic
Research Society (ORS), and the British Society of Rheumatology (BSR). Dr. Wilder has presented findings generated
by the Institute at national and international scientific meetings and is published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
She has 15 years of experience in biostatistical computer programming with a specialty in Statistical Analysis Software (SAS).
Dr. Wilder holds an affiliate faculty appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, College of Public
Health at the University of South Florida. Dr. Wilder has two adult daughters and six cats (five too many).
She participates in short-term Christian mission's trips, enjoys the great outdoors, and doing needlework.

Matt
Rogers, Director of Exercise Physiology
Matt earned his Master of Science from
the University of Kentucky and his Bachelor
of Science from Eastern Kentucky University.
He has published his research in the Journal
of Hypertension, taught many workshops,
and has served as an adjunct instructor
of Health and Physical Education for a
community college. Matt has worked in
both prevention and clinical rehabilitation
settings during his many years as an Exercise
Physiologist. He is conducting research
at ARIA to help determine the proper prescription
of exercise for persons with osteoarthritis
and is working to upgrade the Exercise
Physiology Laboratory.
Matt has been married to his wife, Peggy,
since 1988 and they have been adopted
by several stray cats. Matt has been a
runner and fitness buff since age 13,
was a member of the cross-country and
track teams at EKU, and continues racing
in the Masters' (over 40) category. Matt
believes, as did Professor Per-Olof Åstrand,
that if a person wishes not to exercise,
he or she should visit a doctor to see
if the heart can stand it...
